Hisperion presents Orbita at EuroGNC 2026

Joaquín González López-Cepero presenting Orbita's vision-based GNC simulation at EuroGNC 2026.

Hisperion Aerospace took part in EuroGNC 2026, the CEAS conference on Guidance, Navigation, and Control, where we presented our latest work demonstrating Orbita's capabilities for simulating advanced space scenarios.

Simulating complex space scenarios often requires several software tools to interact with each other, which increases development and validation costs. Orbita addresses this challenge by making it straightforward to embed user-defined algorithms to simulate and validate GNC systems within a realistic environment.

A vision-based Lyapunov attitude controller

In our paper, we present the design and testing of a vision-based Lyapunov attitude controller for close-proximity operations using Orbita. Synthetic images are generated from a virtual camera placed on the chaser spacecraft and fed to the navigation system, which then drives the controller using only the inputs from the onboard camera.

The video below shows the GNC system successfully centering the target within the frame, relying solely on the onboard camera and demonstrating Orbita's ability to couple synthetic image generation with closed-loop GNC simulation.

A great experience at the conference

Our work was presented by Joaquín González López-Cepero, who showcased how Orbita enables the simulation of advanced GNC systems together with synthetic image generation.

The conference was a great experience and an excellent opportunity to connect with researchers and industry professionals, exchange ideas, and gain a deeper insight into the needs and challenges of the rapidly evolving space sector. A big thank you to everyone we had the chance to meet and talk with during the event.
